Muay Thai
The MCSC regulates both professional and amateur Muay Thai in the Province of Manitoba. Muay Thai has historical origins dated back centuries.
Often referred to Thai boxing, and is also known as “the art of eight limbs” Muay Thai is a full-contact combat sport that utilizes punching, kicks, sweeps, and various clinching techniques as well as use of elbows, knees and shins.
Muay Thai contests typically take place in a boxing ring however, competition within an approved cage may also be permitted.
Amateur contestants must be a minimum of (18) years of age to obtain a license to compete in a sanctioned event.
Rules
The Manitoba Combative Sports Commission has adopted the Association of Boxing Commissions and Combat Sports rulesets for professional and amateur combat sports. The MCSC also has specific regulations that may have additional or amended requirements that will take precedence over the ABC Unified Rules.
