MMA
The MCSC regulates both professional and amateur MMA in the Province of Manitoba. Mixed martial arts (MMA) is a full-contact fighting sport that utilizes various “stand up” striking techniques similar to boxing, kickboxing and Muay Thai and also uses grappling and throwing techniques derived from sports such as judo, wrestling and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ).
MMA is often considered the purist form of hand-to-hand combat sports between two competitors.
Mixed martial arts (MMA) contests typically take place in a caged/fenced area however, competition within an approved boxing ring may also be permitted provided it is constructed with (5) ropes.
Amateur contestants must be a minimum of (18) years of age to obtain a license to compete in a sanctioned event.
